Ok. So a little bit better explanation regarding my last post. We recently (last 2.5 weeks) discovered that Michayla was not hearing so well. According to the doctors, she has probably been losing it over the last year to 18 months (cause - genetic, probably auditory neuropathy.) She currently has a mild-moderate loss in her right hear and a moderate-severe loss in her left ear. This discovery has changed the course of things for her, as she was supposed to move into the dorms tomorrow. We have decided that since the doctors predict that she is going to continue to lose her hearing (but arent sure how fast, yet) that she will stay at home this semester. She also just got her hearing aids today and is litterally, BLOWN AWAY! They actually had to turn them down. It has been a bit overwhelming today, as she (and we) are realizing just how much she hasnt been hearing. She is going to try to take 9 credit hours this semester as she adjusts and then well go from there. She will have hearing tests every 4 months for the next year, so it is going to be a process. Shes a tough cookie and will be fine. She just has to get it all figured out. She is blessed to have lots of support around her, as she begins this jouney, both in the hearing and Deaf/hard of hearing world. Thanks a million for all your thoughts and prayers
