Ok, a belated second entry into the pick five songs etc. thing that Chris Hiebert nominated me for. And no nominations this time around. The Hexx from Terror Twilight was a close second for this spot, but Grounded is just a perfect mix of jangly guitar heroism by the way-too-handsome Stephen Malkmus - seriously, he makes playing guitar look so easy and fun - and a sort of wafting melancholy. I know sometimes Pavement lyrics are sorta purposefully silly or cryptic or completely meaningless, but this song knocks it out of the park.
