Ok, all of you that like and love the pictures of fosters and puppies, and the silly stories-- Im pleading-- (and not just for the giant breeds). Rescues depend on fosters, they can not rescue without them. I didnt get to foster last year because of several things-- Allies age, (she was great with puppies- but wasnt going to stress her out with older dogs that may cop an attitude), then her having cancer, losing her, Pee Wees stroke, losing Riley and Gator -- plus I usually never foster in the fall unless it is short term because of my show schedule because it isnt fair to the foster. Yes, I know I took in Floyd, but it honestly was only suppose to be for a few weeks-- (long story), and yes we love him and adore him and glad we have him, but it was not planned. So if you love seeing the pictures of these sweet fur babies - that I post, share and talk about-- how about becoming a foster. I can hook you up with rescues that need fosters for large, medium, small, young and old dogs and cats. It would saving not one but two lives-- the one you foster and the one that a shelter can take in because they now have an empty kennel. Fostering can be work, it can be great fun, and it can be heartbreaking when you say goodbye (but a good heart breaking). I always promise each of the ones I foster that unless the home is a great home and a better fit than I am-- no matter how much I adore them, I will let them go. I post about fostering a lot, but lately Im seeing more and more rescues in dire need of foster homes, more dogs and cats are in the shelters and fewer people are adopting from the shelters. Most of the animals in the shelters are not there because they are bad animals-- same with rescues-- they are not in rescue because they are bad-- usually it is not their fault. Claire is such a case-- she is not a bad girl, she is a sweet, loving, smart little girl. Thank goodness GDRA had room to take her in-- I dont know her entire story, but do know she is much better off now. That is the way it usually is. So please seriously think about fostering. If puppies are to much for you-- senior dogs are wonderful- slower paced, loving, a lot of time already trained, and fantastic companions. Please think about it. (and remember what you spend on your foster -- if you are fostering for a legal 501c3-- it is a tax deduction. Ok, off my soap box. Im going to call it a night. Up early and out of here to volunteer at the spay/neuter clinic.
