Ok, all scans, medical records, blood tests have been forwarded to UCSF and my procedures will be scheduled January 6, 2015. We hope to accomplishment two things with these procedures. Localize and find the tumors that are pressing on the back nerves because even with specialty scans they are still unclear where the tumors are that are causing so much pain. Now its not just the back but the tummy area as well, and my intestines seem to be getting thicker every day, which they say is not really a good thing as well. Once they are located, then the second procedure will be threading another tube down my throat with numbing medication in it to give the area a shot of this med. Im still not sure the length of time it will stop the pain or if it will stop the pain until I pass, but if they can numb the pain and give me a better quality of life then I have right now, it should be worth all of this. I will only be in the hospital a couple of days if its successful but before we can do this, my immune system needs to be strong, meaning my viral load needs to be low and the CD-4 count needs to be as high as we can get it. The other risk is that if that numbing med leaks anywhere outside the designated area, i.e in my stomach or in my blood system, then I could possibly be paralyzed for life, kind of defeating the entire purpose of the term (quality of life) so again, I know I ask a lot but keep your fingers crossed that everything is successful. Just a few more days and we will know more about our future.
