Ok being a culture vulture and i cant help myself. The world cup is coming and im looking forward to it on more levels than just football. I have always had a fascination for Brazilian culture, its music and cant help but think that the Philippines should seriously step back and look at itself and feel a little embarrassed for its aping of foreign culture with little forging itself or its own idenity yet Brazil DESPITE its history, HAS. Clones of American culture is simply not good enough in my eyes at least for what my opinion is worth. Brazil was colonised too and just as oppressively as here. They had slaves brought in from Africa, indigenous people wiped out and if you Filipinos think you had it tough, then look to Brazil. Yet out of all of that, the Brazilian people evolved there own culture, there own music, there own art and they have an identity which is so lacking here. The Philippines should look to Brazil for inspiration and guess what. Despite many problems equally or even worse than Filipino problems, they have there own culture, own music and are rich in soul and ORIGINAL. No more crap excuses Philippines please.
