Ok everyone I have a situation n I need some advice. Im fairly new to the site n just under a year as a driver. I usually dont post but I enjoy the site n information that is provided. I was how ever raised around the trucking industry. My father (RIP Dad) was a driver for years! Within the last two days I have experienced my first loads out in the upper eastern states( NH, Mass, Vermont n so on) last night I spent the night in Springfield, Massachusetts at a mom n pop truck stop. Well I was so tired n was sleeping so hard that when I got woke up I didnt know where I was. Noticed I said when I got woke up. In the middle of the night I was woke up to someone knocking on my door, I honestly was either dreaming or just thought I was at a shippers/ delivery cuz I so in a daze n I jumped up n opened my door. Well this is when I fully woke up, I believe from the light coming on, but there was a man begging for money. Luckily I shut n locked the door right away, but it is a situation that could have turned very bad.I truly believe my Dad was watching out for me! This is not the first time tho where I was sleeping hard. Back in January when it was cold out one night my auto start kicked in n I woke up to sitting behind the steering wheel. Since then I take the keys out at night but after last night I am looking for suggestion on how to keep myself safe or out of harms way to myself while Im sleeping. This may seem silly but after that happened last night I couldnt get back to sleep n I just laid here n thought of all that COULD have happened.
