Ok folks. This is a post a lot of you have been waiting for! If youve watched the Knoxville area TV Meteorologist forecasts Monday night, you may have heard them referring to possible chances at snow showers... for Sunday into Monday. While that is a good possibility, everyone of them totally blew off something brewing to our south. Every major model has a Low pressure system coming together somewhere along the Gulf Coast around Thursday/Friday. Right now, they have all tracked the Low across the northern Gulf, across the northern part of Florida and on out to sea by Sunday/Monday. Therefore, local TV Meteorologists have discounted the potential of this Low. They may be underestimating this system. Im posting maps of 4 different forecast models (the same models they see). The first map of each model was the midday output on Monday, valid for late night Friday (00Z Sat 01/24/15). The second map of each of the 4 models is tonights model output, 12 hours later (except for one that is only 6 hours after the midday update). Notice this in each of the later model updates compared to the updates from earlier today... the system trended Northwest. Thats just in 6-12 hours difference in model runs. As you can see, we are on the cusp of being on the northwest fringe of this system. What does that mean? With us being 96-120 hours out from this system, if it continues even a slight NW trend with each day of updates... we will be in our typically favorable track for accumulating snowfall. Right now, its still 4-5 days out, but Im growing more confident well see accumulating Snow this weekend! No idea on potential totals right now. This is a worthy system to track. Its definitely worth mentioning at the very least. I believe the TV Meteorologists will pick up on this either Tuesday or Wednesday. Also, we have a chance or two next week to see light snows from 2 separate clipper systems. But, my focus is on the potentially bigger system this weekend! Below are the maps I referred to above. Look for more updates on Tuesday!
