Ok folks, both Heather Faith and Meaghan Dickert nominated me for this top 10 books thing so here goes. In no particular order. 1. Handmaids Tale. When I first started art school my Dad used to drop me off early in the mornings. I remember reading this on the couches at ACAD before class. I loved it. I feel like I borrowed it from Sara Thorley Titus but I cant be sure. 2. Generation X. Found in the free bin at ACAD. My first Coupland novel. I read a lot in my first semester of art school because I was super unsure of myself and couldnt bear the thought of sitting alone at lunch in the cafeteria. So I sat on the hill overlooking the grace hospital every lunch and read all fall. 3. The BFG. My Mom read it to me, she also read me the Witches, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda and lots of other books (not just Roald Dahl). My Mom is pretty awesome. 4. A Wrinkle in Time. A library book. I got up early to read. I read this one in the winter and got up when my dad got up (before anyone else) and read it at the kitchen table while he made cream of wheat. My Dad is also pretty awesome. 5. Tim Sandlins Grovont Triology, and Western Swing. Read in the early 2000s in Art School. I feel like Jason De Haan or Lindsay Sutton told me about him. 6. Freedom by Jonathan Franzen. Read over christmas holidays a few years ago. Couldnt shut up about it. Tried to make my Mom read it. Her review... this book is full of assholes. HAHAHA! 7. Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris. My sister Stephanie Mersereau read it too. We love it. She stood in line to get me a signed copy of Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk a few years ago. David Sedaris signed it To Sarah, Your lovely sister enchanted me. DS. She is enchanting.
