Ok food for thought #2 as I scroll threw FB I noticed sometimg I have thought before, now you may think this is strange coming from someone who mimics someone, but remember that is a character and I dont go through life trying to look like Cher everyday! When I started doing shows in the early 80s it used to be about you making your mark as you the individual with your own look and style, since coming back to the USA drag scene I have noticed not so much individuals as so many entertainers blatantly copying what looked good on another entertainer, or what worked for someone else in a pageant ie: someone in the 90s won miss Gay USofA with a talent with the whip snaps in it and cheerleader like choreography, and still today 2014 I see girls using this, or the gorgeous hair that Coco Van Cartier used when winning Continental at large and soon everyone in a pageant has the same look , all looking exactly alike! All the contestants looking like a sea of Coco Van Cartiers (Me knocking my head on a wall trying to understand) or the over painted double over sized lashes top and bottom Erica Andrews and Roxy Andrews made famous and now I see so many trying to have that look! When I started I wanted to be like Dana Douglas, Tiffany Arieagus, Heather Fontaine, etc, but never did I try to become a clone of them! I always believed you your own look will stand out more than being in a group that you all look exactly a like! I guess my question is what happen to individuality? Think about it, do the girls you admire look like everyone else? They dont copy they make their individualist mark on the scene! Monica Munro, Mimi Marks, Cezanne Blincoe Tasha Long, Chad Michaels, Raja, Ivy Winters My point is find you and your style that will make you stand out not blend in! Food for thought
