Ok for all of you parents out there with autistic children, I cannot say enough about therapy for them early enough! Even though hes not my nephew anymore, I have so much respect for the parents of Parker who will graduate in May of this year from College summa cum laude (The degree summa cum laude is for those who have attained ninety percent on the general scale, or have received Highest Honors in any department), holds down full time employment, drives and dates and does whatever he wants to do! However, his autism was caught early (around two years old) and they took him to the best treatment center that gave them a plan that required a lot of therapy and support! They followed the plan, and his mother who is a second grade teacher stepped up to the plate and helped him with his homework every night until he went to college. He is an amazing person and should be the poster child for Autism! - His aunt is a physical therapist and noticed some changes in Parker - he was regressing in his eating habits and walking on his tip toes. Now this does not always mean autism, but if you see these signs in a child you know - please say something and encourage testing! Therapy early is the key to combat Autism!!! When I say therapy I am not talking about therapy for mental illness, I am talking about therapy that is specifically designed to combat the social isolation that comes with autism. Interaction is the key. I by no means am an expert, but I see the difference it has made in Parker. Good luck, and God Bless.
