Ok friends Lets hear your views on this one. Because right now I think Im the minority in the way Im thinking... Ill play devils advocate. This Asshole (as the jersey below states) was speaking to his girlfriend in what he believed was a private conversation. To the best of my knowledge he didnt use any verbally abusive slang or racist words. He simply was stating what he felt.. You know FREEDOM OF SPEECH. In turn he has been treated like he committed the worst, racial hate crime ever committed. There are racists on both sides of the spectrum that have done far far worse and received far less punishment? Am I wrong to think that what he said was stupid and maybe he should be ostracized by his peers for having said it, but being fined 2.5 million and being practically forced to sell his team and being banned for life from the organization is a tad harsh to say the least? Are we to believe that the NBA which is mostly comprised of Black Athletes have never said anything derogatory about white athletes or white owners. Yeah ok... Im all for punishing racially hurtful crimes. But lets make it EVEN across the boards. I have NEVER EVER seen a black person to this day be punished for using white derogatory slang! Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, (just two off the top of my head) are both SEVERELY harsh in their comedy routines against white America, but NOT ONCE are they reprimanded for it. Why? Because its veiled under the topic comedy? OK then by the same token can you Imagine if a white comedian did that? Their career would be over. I also find it hysterical that the news media has paraded every black athlete and advocate supporting the Commissioners decision. Lets all jump on the band wagon folks. Where are these same professionals when reverse racism happens? Why dont we hear from them condemning Black racists? can you say DOUBLE STANDARD? Is this Owner an Asshole yeah probably in more ways than just this statement but does he deserve this sort of punishment usually reserved for the most heinous of crimes? I think not. Arent there more important issues to be worried about? Like finding a stupid Plane that crashed about 50 days ago where everyone is dead aboard? Why we spend so much time looking for this plane is as stupid as anything else. People want closure.. Well hows this for closure... Plane crashed in ocean. No one knows exactly where. The plane sank to the depths of the ocean. Everyone on board is dead. The end. Niceeeeee :)
