Ok.... heres my rant for the night. I got a call this afternoon that Claire was in the office and they had found a few nits in her hair. First off, we have been all through school until now with out the dreaded head lice. Now with that being said, we have tried very hard to teach Claire not to touch other kids at school or share things with them that can pass lice. But she is afterall an 8 year old girl that loves to give hugs, therefore I have expected this day to come for a long time! Everytime one of those awful letters comes home I go into a panic worrying she will get it. Well now we have had it. I only wish it was a one time thing and we never had to worry about it again. My biggest concern is that our school board is considering dropping the policy where students are sent home if they are found with nits or bugs. This is CRAZY! If they drop this policy I foresee a huge rise in head lice cases! And this stuff is not cheap to get rid of. If you are lucky enough to only get it one time thats great! But for those poor kids that get it time and time again, I cant imagine what it costs! My suggestion is, if the school board drops the policy, they should provide the medication to get rid of it! I have cried about this since I got the call today! I hate that Claire feels bad because she has it, well hopefully had it now. The amount of cleaning you have to do is unbelievable! Anything they have touched needs to be washed and dried. I guess I will be up all night doing that! Ok rant over. Thank you all for listening (reading)! Lol!
