Ok im gonna jump out there on this one. Some will like what i have to say, some wont. But it is what it is and its my opinion and im entitled to it. I think to make this entire thing about race is ignorant. Its ignorant for black people to assume that this event isnt wanted there because its primarily black, and its ignorant for white people to assume that all this dumb shit is because the people are black. Having been to BOTH events what i noticed is that if you set aside the color of someones skin you will notice the biggest difference in the people that attend is the AGE GROUP that are attracted to the 2 different events followed by social grouping and economic grouping. When i went down a few weeks ago i noticed that the majority of the people there were above 30 vs at black bike week the age group of most is 20-35. While yes prodominantly black, we are talking about a majority of them being 25 year old clowns that wanna be street corner famous. That being said i have many friends that ride sport bikes, many of them are black, a few even went down last week HOWEVER most of them are successful business owners who didnt come home all cracked out and none of them shot anyone while they were down there. And funny enough they told me next year whether they have this event they probably wont attend. They said they arent interested in being shot at, or shutting the street down, or getting a contact buzz walking down the street. They went for the same reason i did. To get away for awhile, get some sun, and ride my bike. The simple fact is this: if you want to be respected then act like you deserve respect. If you do so then people will respect you. The few people that dont are just as bad as the ignorant clowns that wanna turn a place that people live and work into a lawless jungle. Thats nothing to respect and certainly nothing to be proud of. Go down, respect the people who live there, dont throw your damn trash in the street or destroy hotel rooms, try not to shoot anybody and spend your money in the establishments that are good enough to let you in. Those people dont want it ended because the people are black, they want it ended because theres a high enough percentage down there that wanna be assholes and not a high enough percentage of people willing to do something about it. I can tell you this, if i woulda done some dumb shit like that while i was down there they wouldnt have needed the cops. The people i was with wouldve hit me over the head with something for being a dumbass. End Rant
