Ok.. (insert deep sigh)...time to put it out there...this is NOT for sympathy, but purely networking to try to find some connections. As many of you know, My back pain has become significantly worse over the past year. A year ago I was running, mountain biking, training, working full time, and taking care of my family.... and even doing a lot of traveling and socializing :). This spring, I was diagnosed with osteonecrosis the spine, which is caused by a disconnect of blood flow to the bone, which causes bone death. Its become so debilitating, that Mom and nate are doing all of the housework cleaning, cooking, etc.. After 7 months of trying, I have finally admitted to myself that at this time I am completely unable to work, let alone lead much of a functional life, if any. The spine clinic in Minneapolis has exhausted all options for me, as has Mayo Clinic and our local physicians here. I plan to visit U of M in October, however, the kicker is that virtually nobody in the country that we have phoned or hsve researched has heard of osteonecrosis in this part of the body, and treatments in general for this disease are experimental at best. The only reason Im putting this on Facebook is to network. Theres gotta be someone out there that knows someone who is willing 2 attempt some treatment. I know this is not the path I am supposed to take, and this needs to be fixed ASAP! If any of you out there has heard of this or know anything about treatment, Im open to anything at this point. My family and friends are absolutely amazing, and it is humbling to find out who true friends are. Thank you all! You know who you are, and all youre doing to support us.
