Ok, its no big secret that I tend to support the underdog. Even in the most lopsided competitions where the outcome seems to be a foregone conclusion Ill push for the little guy. While I understand the jury is still out concerning the Patriot deflated footballs issue, the more facts that become evident tend to point to the fact that they cheated. Interviews with league officials discovered that people have been complaining about this very issue with the Patriots before, even to the point that errant balls intercepted and kept by opposing teams members were found to be deflated. Obviously the opinion of one guy in San Jose is not going to change anything in a revenue making machine as enormous as the NFL. I get that; Im the little guy. But what does it say about us as a people if this issue just gets sidelined or swept under the carpet? Should not these people be held to the same standards and ethics the rest of us are? Just because theyre in professional sports doesnt give them carte blanch in my book. Take this quote from the Bagger Vance film a few years ago, a 10 year old boy talking to one of the best golfers to ever play the game. Bobby: You really love this game, dont you? Boy: Its the greatest game there is. Bobby: You really think so? Boy: Ask anybody. Its fun, its hard, and you stand out there on that green, green grass and its just you and the ball and there aint nobody to beat up on but your self. Just like Mr. Noonan keeps hittin him self with his golf club every time he gets angry. Hes broken his toe three time on account of it. Its the only game I know of you can call a penalty on your self, if youre honest, and most people are. Theres just no game like it. My 2 cents today. Side note: Im rooting for you Ron Clelland.
