Ok, lets do a little math.... The average primary care physician sees about 20 patients a day, and 1/5 or 4 of the are for chronic pain. 22 working days a month, that is about 100 pain patients per month. There are 30,000 primary care physicians in the state, so conservatively that is about 3 million visits per month for chronic pain. Lets just cut that by 1/3 to 1 million. Lets assume each of those patients gets 4 vicodin a day, or 120 per month. That is 120 MILLION doses per month. Marijuana reduces that by 1/2 to 3/4 in our practice.... there are 19,000 patients with aids, considerably more with cancer, glaucoma, seizures, and ptsd. All of which are helped with cannabis. So why exactly does law enforcement and the prosecutor want prescription narcotics over cannabis for qualified patients? One last little tidbit... According to the Journal of the American Medical Association, narcotic overdose deaths are down 25% in states with medical marijuana laws vs those without them. Lets get with the program law enforcement, medical marijuana is not only a good thing, it is here to stay.... Learn to live with it and concentrate on actually serving and protecting.
