Ok, my Aunt Annie called and gave me the ‘famous’ cake recipe. She got it from her daughter – Michelle – who got it from my Grandma Ray way back in the day. Here goes – if anyone is interested – [for all the northerners on here – Dinner is Southern for lunch – lol] My Grandma Gertha’s Sunday Dinner Fudge Topped Butter Cake Recipe: Duncan Hinds Butter Cake Mix – pour batter into 2 round cake pans and bake according to directions. Punch holes in each layer with a fork or butter knife (so the icing and sink into the cake) Icing (the key is to keep stirring throughout the icing process until the mixture is poured onto the cake – remember keep stirring!): 2 cups sugar ½ cup coca ½ cup milk Keep stirring until the mixture is at FULL boil. Keep stirring in full boil for at least ONE minute. Take the pan off of the heat and add one stick of butter and 1 teaspoon of vanilla – keep stirring until the mixture gets thick. Then, pour on cake and let cool. Have fun and good luck!!!
