Ok now for the rest of the story……. Beautiful day, so I - TopicsExpress

Ok now for the rest of the story……. Beautiful day, so I decided to wash my car. Got that taken care of and thought “why not wax it too”. Mistake #1. Got it all done and realized I needed to wax the roof. I applied most of the wax to the roof by standing in the door and reaching across, but soon realized it was going to be hard to rub it off in that position. A great idea came to mind. The sunroof. Thought it would be easier to reach if I opened it and stood up on the seats, figured I could reach the entire roof from there and what could possibly go wrong?. Mistake #2. Got all the wax off and I was ready to get out. It was then that I realized I had become a human toggle bolt. Yes. I popped the ‘girls’ up through the top, but I could not get them out. Heck, it was funny at first. Then as I stood there, reality kicked in. I may have to call the NAPD or the Fire Department. I could not get myself back through the hole. Of course, I played the non-emergency call to the Police through my head “Hello, New Albany Police Department, how may I help you?” I reply, laughing a little, “this is a non emergency call. I think I need help but not sure if I need the police or rescue”. Dispatcher says ‘What seems to be the problem?” My reply would have been “I am stuck in the sunroof of my car and I can’t get out”. The dispatcher says “I’m sorry, but could you repeat that ma’am?”. So I tell her again and I hear her trying to not laugh. I give her my address and she says that she will stay on the line with me until help arrives. So then I get to hear her on the radio saying that there is a female stuck in her sunroof and needs assistance. So, first officer shows up. He sits in his car for what seems like an eternity. Then he gets out scratching his head. After asking me a series of standard questions, the first of which is “Ms. Ellis, have you been drinking?” to which I answer “No sir, it is only 11:30”. He begins to assess the situation a little closer. I explain my thought process that landed me in this situation. I’m not sure if he really needs help or if he just thinks this is too good not to share with all the public servant’s in town. He calls for assistance. Of course, I can only imagine what is being said over the airwaves….so then more police and the rescues vans and firetrucks shows up. Slow day in town I guess. I am having visions of the Jaws of Life ripping the car apart or a ladder truck with a sling on it hoisting me out from above. Everyone trying to not laugh, and of course, I have to pee…. Thank God I was able to get myself out and I did not have to make that call. I didn’t want to have to move to Jeff……
