Ok parents, I want your opinions. On Friday Cody came home upset because he felt like the guidance counselor insinuated that he wasnt a good kid. He explained that she came to the classroom and read D.W.s Guide to Perfect Manners. Afterwards, they had to take a quiz where they had to choose the correct way to behave in 10 different scenarios. He told me that if you got 4 or less right that that meant you were not a good kid. I called and talked to the counselor and she assured me that that was not the case. Cody must have simply misunderstood. So, today I sat down and reviewed this quiz. First off, at the top of the quiz, it states ARE YOU PERFECT YET? TRY THIS TEST AND SEE. (strike one in my book). Then, it clearly states at the bottom If you go 4 or fewer right, you need a lot of work. (strike two and that definitely insinuates that the child is not well behaved). Now, Im all for teaching manners and we expect our children to use their manners, but this seems extreme to me. Especially when PERFECTION is what is expected of 1st graders. Anyone who knows Cody knows he is not a bad kid and this truly upset him. (no kidding, he was in tears). Would yall be as upset about this as I am??
