Ok, people get ready for a touch of a soap box. As you all know it is getting toward that festive time of year when people buy dead trees and stick them in the corner to celebrate happiness, joy, life, Solstice, the birth of Jesus, Festivus or Newtonmus. Whatever you are celebrating next month it usually involves a tree. Now, Im not one to knock Christmas, but Id like to inform you that the act of bringing a non native tree to an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, keeping it fairly fresh and not bald, and then (someone shoot me now) flocking the bloody thing is NOT a very economic or environmentally sound practice as they are running 3 large truck trailers and their generators to keep them refrigerated. Keep in mind that this has been going on for 3 days and it isnt even Thanksgiving or Hanukkah yet. So, my point is please, please, please think twice before perpetuating this environmental havoc. Get a nice little local tree, decorate it up and plant it when youre done. Pics of 50lb bags of flocking and dripping constantly running truck trailers to follow.
