Ok people, reality check. Ebola has killed less than 5 people in the USA. It is a nasty virus for sure that has been around since at least the 70 has probably mutated a bit, it does have potential for sure. Meningitis, Influenza, Pneumonia, MRSA and hundreds more infectious diseases kill thousands in the USA and even more around the world. Yet let the press gets hold of something that sounds horrible like Ebola or the swine flu, respiratory enterovirus and the hysteria begins. They talk about closing borders and have cruise ships come back to port etc etc. Politicians get involved and blame the government or whomever they can to score points(so sad).Media outlets go crazy so to increase their ratings. Ordinary people get very scared. People smoke and drink and dont wear seat belts, kills thousands. High blood pressure kills thousands. So stay calm. At this point its still just a nasty virus, no worse than bacterial meningitis, the plague(which still exists in the US) or other bad boys. Get a flu shot. Dont travel to Liberia. Realize there are other bad bugs in your neighbor hood and wash your hands and keep your fingers out of your mouth and nose. If we listened to the press and politicians(politicians say they are not scientist until they have an opinion about ebola and who are for the most parts idiots anyway in my opinion) we should ban travel to the next county during a flu outbreak. Of course that would never make the news. Mass hysteria is an ugly thing and will always be that way. I was in med school during the beginning of HIV and it was even worse.Take a deep breath.... and thank goodness the nurses dog has made it out of of the slammer and tested negative! Lastly have at least a little faith in science, its a wonderful thing! Again, take a deep breath
