Ok so I am going to have a little rant ( no offence meant to anyone!) in the vain hope someone may have a suggestion to help! We as a family have given up cakes, sweets and chocolates for Lent as we do every year. Today 1st day of lent my son comes out of school with a bag of sweets as it was someones birthday. Me mean mother wont let him have them, told him they will taste much better at Easter. It is fine he got over it within 5 mins and has forgotten all about the sweets I have hidden away. I do have a fundamental issue with the whole sweets thing anyway - healthy school etc.. not to mention its a Catholic school and today is Ash Wednesday! Anyway I can deal with the whole sweets thing as always Im just a mean mum for 5mins. Now on Friday I am meant to make cakes and send them into school for a cake sale. Point 1- how mean on my family to make cakes and then not give them any! (again I am mean mum I can probably handle that) Point 2 - my boys are to take money in to buy said cakes, I dont have an issue with the fundraising side and will happily send the money in, but will my boys be given cakes to eat in my absence? Lent - healthy school - catholic school? agree everything in monderation but does Lent even mean anything anymore! Rant over - sorry for any offence caused!
