Ok, so I am going to rant just a little. For all of you out there who are complaining about the water being wasted on the ALS ice bucket challenge, I challenge you to watch this video. I dare you to get to the end without tears. This is the reason people are doing the challenge. It is sad and pathetic that it takes a challenge to embarrass yourself in front of millions of people to do the right thing, that our healthcare system leaves people with dibilitating and fatal diseases to waste away with no hope, and that there are people who find a way to criticize and demean those who are trying to raise awareness and help. The fact is, the water being used could never be shipped to places in need of water because of FDA and governmental regulations. My water comes out of my well in the ground, through a hose, into a bucket, over my head, and back onto the ground where it eventually makes it back to the water table or evaporated into the air until it comes back as rain. It is a cycle. There is no waste. Your time would be better spent complaining to the government about the way these people are treated....or pouring a bucket of water over your head and donating your $10 to make this disease go away.
