Ok so I just came across this in a comment string. I actually laughed (probably the wrong response) but I honestly was taken aback by it... This is really interesting to observe. A friend of mine once compare white people dealing with racism to grieving over a death... There are 4 stages denial, anger, guilt, and acceptance. You can go through all of these stages. You can be stuck in denial, or anger. You can get called out on your racist behavior and feel guilty and be sad. Or you can actually accept the error of your ways and become an ally. So, is this person saying that no matter what a white person thinks, theyre racist? The thing is; I understand the comparison... Gone through a few stages myself (except the last one, so in essence I guess Im stuck in denial). I guess I just get curious as to why, when accused of racism (and subsequent denial) that the accuser never believes the accused, and then basically calls them sensitive (as I will most likely be called at some point during this thread). I dont want to be treated with kid gloves... And any time I TRY to have an honest conversation... I get attacked/accused of white privilege, male privilege, or both (depending on who Im talking to). Im sorry but if you have to try and make me feel bad for something that was an accident of birth... Try again. Aaaaaaaannnnnddd, I will get my popcorn, and wait for the fall out. Begin...
