Ok, so I saw this segment with Fredricka Whitfield CNN and Amanda - TopicsExpress

Ok, so I saw this segment with Fredricka Whitfield CNN and Amanda Seales on CNN today and this guy just blew my mind. First this jackwagon is saying that catcalls are ok because all women are walking around wanting people to tell them theyre pretty. Then he says that if you dont like it, stand up for yourself. When it was pointed out that sometimes you get killed for that, his response was, then carry a gun. Dude! Seriously? Im going to make this real simple for you. We are not walking down the street hoping that strangers will tell us were pretty. I know you think so, but were not. Were thinking about our kids, our significant others, our friends, their kids, our families, our pets, our choice of footwear, the weather, what were going to make for dinner, whats going to happen next in the book were reading, whats happening on our favorite TV shows, if were going to get to where were going on time, if we left the curling iron on, how many shopping days until Christmas... and about 200 other innocuous things, simultaneously. Were not hoping that random dudes yell out commentary on our appearance. We dont do that to you, guys, so why do you need to do it to us? He says: So youre telling me then if I compliment you on the street, its some sort of abuse, no matter how I choose to do it? My response is, Dont do it. And furthermore, why do you feel the need to do it at all? Its fairly simple: if you know a womans name and feel compelled to tastefully compliment her on any given day, go ahead. That is usually a nice gesture. If you dont know this lady well enough to know her name, then dont say anything. It doesnt get any easier than that.
