Ok, so after a LOT of careful and prayerful thinking, I came to the conclusion that getting a second dog right now is not a good idea. Ive already called the gal about Amos and she was grateful that I knew the timing was off. I have too many loose ends from Dave to take care of before I can commit to caring properly for a new family member. Ill need to make at least one trip out to west TX to try to do whatever is needed to take care of his moms house. She died before I met Dave, and he never closed things out with that. Plus, I have his house in Houston to finish clearing out. He sure was a collector of things! All this means that Id have to board a new dog almost right away -- which isnt fair to the dog since it wouldnt have adequate time to acclimate to a new home and get the attention it needs during the transition. Maybe down the road Ill look into it again, but for now, itll be just Zelda & me. She really didnt have much to say about it........... :) Its kind of disappointing, but it IS the right decision.
