Ok so everyone is asking for the story.. Here goes. So Glamour along with a few lucky Dundee salons were selected as finalists for the INAA Awards in Glasgow. Myself for the Hair Extensionist category Kerry Campbell for Expert Colourist and Hayley Macnamara for Beauty Therapist. We as finalists were promised a press conference and photos taken with Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright which didnt happen, no1 seemed to know what was going on and there was a lot of standing about. As the evening progressed a lot of public mistakes happened on stage concerning the correct winner of awards, at one point a salon was announced the winner and handed an award when the drunk organiser Ruth stumbled on the stage snatched the mike and slurred that they hadnt won at all, she had counted the votes and to get off the stage to the other poor embarrassed girls standing there before announcing the real winner? Another unprofessional mishap included our friend Kristeen Geddes who owns Renu Re-Nu Skinclinic was listed as being a Glasgow company when shes a Dundee company. The night progressed and it was all west coast salons or large salons who won, not one person from Dundee won. People became unhappy and many of them started shouting FIX... Kerry Campbell was a hero to the entire room when she decided to go on to the stage and tell the organiser exactly what she thought.. And proceeded to flash her bum at her before exiting the stage and giving her the finger. The place was in uproar clapping! The organiser then started heckling back at the crowd and sure enough it all ended in a massive fight.. On stage and we all watched in shock as she was removed from the room from security and the lights went on, we all got cleared out and everyone was horrified at what a joke the whole thing turned out to be. The Sun Newspaper turned up wanting the full story which of course myself and my husband Chris Hutton happily told and we will be named in the article! All in all and I know Indea Ogilvie from Perfecton agrees we would have been embarrassed to have won one of their farcical awards. Its all a Glasgow based fixed competition to make money out of hopeful candidates our table of 12 cost £1260 and we got a shit 3 course meal a glass of wine and a bottle of St Moritz Tan. So..safe to say we will not be returning next year. Lastly we did receive our comments and votes from our lovely clients and that has made us feel like winners and realise how much you all care, we love you all for every vote and are proud of our wee shop and how far we have come in only 3 years of business, glamour isnt a big fancy salon, you cant watch MTV and be given a fancy coffee in a glass mug and we dont have a plush treatment room, you get your lashes/make up or brows done in the middle of the shop with the rest of us all having a banter.. what you get is reality, laughter, hugs, silliness, friends.. We really are a Blonde Desmonds with a Cheers like vibe.. We are not for everyone but do you know what..I wouldnt change it for the world! Cant wait to get back to sunny dundee.. There really is no place like home.. Xxx Ashley Hutton
