Ok so let me understand this a white Hispanic(new one to me) shoots a 17 y/o 185lb tatted up young man,after as a court has ruled the teen punched him and took him to the ground. In 2009 a White african(figured they are the same) shot a 17 y/o 170+lb white young man and was also found not guilty as he thought the young man was breaking into cars in the neighborhood. He was also found not guilty, Why no protests over the shooting of that child. Until we all realize that racism exists and that we all have the innards to carry some of it within, then the stupidity of the situation will continue.. We have choices in this country we can acknowledge that we have a history of abuses due to prejudice and race, and accept that it is a two way street, that is to say that some white folk have a problem with others because of their skin color or some other factor that does not relate to the content of the character of the person, and that some black people have the same issues we will continue to circle the bottom of the bowl until the handle is pulled and we flush everything away. They way to fix racism is to stop allowing it to be a part of the conversation( i know that sounds naive) But when race is interjected into anything it is like dumping worms in the apple barrel, we spoil any hope for a good apple. Is their room for discussion yes but for that to take place you have come to the table without a preconceived notion of the outcome or the intentions of another. We are all Children of the one God, and yes we are also different in our experiences, our history and how we choose to live our lives. but that difference is no stranger than the differences I have with my neighbors. We all have a different background... We hear nothing of the young white children whose lives are cut short by someone of another race. and lets face it if you have even looked at FB you have seen the stories. When a young person dies it will and should always be a tragedy but that is not the same as a crime. The number that sticks out in my mind come from DOJ stats and is that in the 513 days since Young Trayvon was shot, 11k blacks have died at the hands of other blacks, is that not at the very least a equal problem. we can look for race and if we try hard enough can always spin something into something it is not.. But when it comes to crime in america we need to take the race card just like the N word and take them out of the equation. Is not a crime especially killing someone(justified or not) always have a tinge of hate to it,i just cant find the love in the killing of anyone..so why do we have a special group of people on whom HATE crimes can be perpetrated. in the case of murder whatever reason the person had for it in their own mind is hateful and inexcusable. Hate crimes perpetuate the fact that one class of person is of more worth than another. A life is Gods and should end on his timetable not our own. We as a society can do better than what the Rev Al, Jesse and pretty much all of the media is doing, ginning up anger and resentment of the other side.. All groups must put aside their own whiteness, blackness and any other descriptor and simply discuss the issue.. we must accept that some in our society have a penchant for violence and crime and that is all it is...And we must all return to god and ask for his forgiveness and wisdom so that real change can be made. We are better than we are letting the media portray us a Americans,black,brown, yellow, red, white, or any combination of them that make up our content, we must put character on the table and judge that, and stop leaning on the unseen and unknown possibles of is this racially charged. as long as we look at race(everyone)we will fall short of the glory of Gods love and all that it will avail us.. We have a god that sees us all as we really are and calls us his children. so to all my brothers and sisters.. lets look into each other not at one another.. We can and must do better... our future is at stake...
