Ok, so, the announcement… I have decided to close The Laugh - TopicsExpress

Ok, so, the announcement… I have decided to close The Laugh Stand at FBi Social, Kings Cross Hotel, as a monthly comedy room, effective immediately. It was a difficult decision, but after almost three years of giving it a red hot go, the room has failed to achieve the level of consistent success I had hoped it would by now. We had some phenomenally successful nights there and the space itself is wonderful, but there were also too many nights that under-performed, and too many factors working against financial viability. BUT! It is certainly not the end for The Laugh Stand. I owe a lot to FBi Social as it gave me the opportunity to develop and build the brand, and I plan to go back there every now and then to hold big, kick-ass comedy parties when the opportunities arise. The Harold Park room will still operate on a monthly basis and I am looking at a number of options for new venues (including, still, a monthly room in Penrith) and special events. The Laugh Stand will now primarily focus on developing, and ‘re-booting’ comedy at Harold Park, as well as on special events for all levels and areas of comedy performance at venues around Sydney as opportunities arise. So if you are looking to stage a show in Sydney, or you have a concept for a show that you need help bringing to life, then please contact me. I would like to take the opportunity to sincerely thank the wonderful audiences and the top-quality comics we have had at FBi Social over the last three years. And a big thank you of course to FBi Social itself, it’s home; Kings Cross Hotel, and to FBi Radio for all the support in pulling it all together. You have been a pleasure to work with. Thank you to all comics for your patience with booking spots. Only being monthly and having limited spots, and limited budget, has prevented me from booking everyone I’d like as often as I’d like. If you haven’t yet been booked, or at least not for a considerable time, you are my priority for early next year at Harold Park, and for the number of potential events and opportunities in the pipeline. Last, but by no means least, I’d like to throw out a HUGE thank you to all the friends and comics who have helped me behind the scenes, on elements including; design, promo, photographs, video, social media, regularly working the door and just simply being there for most events to support as audience. I have tried to tag as many of you as I can into this post, but please forgive me if I’ve left anyone out. Well, that’s a long enough post. I’m off to work on the next steps… Exciting times hopefully lie ahead.
