Ok, so time to take part in the #bookbucketchallenge. Nominated by Trisha Gopalakrishna Harini Prabhakar and Abhineet Deshpande. Heres my list (Not listing in any order) 1) A tale of two cities - Dickens made sense when I was growing up and I enjoyed reading him a lot. 2) Persepolis - Marjane Satrapi was a major influence in my college days. Thanks Trisha for the suggestion. 3) The catcher in the rye - JD Salinger 4) Tears of the Cheetah - Stephen OBrien. I would say this was one of the first books I read on conservation & genetics and it made a huge impact when I was in my 2nd year in college. I owe a lot to this one book for making me think the way I do now. 5) Into thin air - Jon Krakauer , the same guy who wrote Into the wild, although I liked this better and always pumped my adrenaline and made me want to go exploring. 6) Footloose in the Himalaya - Bill Aitken. I should thank Sartaj for this suggestion. Totally loved the descriptions of Kedarnath, rudranath and many more Himalayan ranges and a book dating back to the 70s. 7) Guns, Germs & Steel - Jared Diamond. He talks about evolution and our origins. Influenced me quite a bit. Read it very recently. Must thank Sahas Barve for the suggestion. 8) Chacha Chaudhary - the one comic series along with all amar chitra katha ones shaped my childhood. Ask me about Sabu & Rocket. Ptch. Those days. 9) As a kid, he did influence me. Although I was horribly disappointed later. Its not about the Bike. Well, it ultimately wasnt. Armstrong. 10) One of the sweetest books I have read - How I taught my grandmother to read along with a list of short stories by Sudha Murty. I feel humbled when I read about her family, her life and the way she has come up in her life. Handing over the mantle to Sartaj Ghuman Sahas and Jennie Miller. Would love to see your list!
