Ok so yesterday I had a heart stopping moment when I was carrying a pile of things across the kitchen and saw a 2 inch needle roll off a board and drop to the floor, by the time Id put the pile down and go to pick it up Lexi had done the unthinkable and swallowed it!!!!! I couldnt believe it, I panicked and frantically checked her mouth and throat with no sign of it, I searched the floor to be certain she had eaten it and rang my vet immediately. He told me to feed her as much food as I could get into her and if she starts to vomit or has a temperature to bring her straight over. In the meantime all poops needed to be dissected for needle inspection! Yuck! I spread dairylea on 6 large bread rolls and poured some chicken fat over a bowl of biscuits and she ate until she was almost bursting! She couldnt believe her luck! Anyway this afternoon, to my complete and utter amazement, my partner actually found the needle in her lovingly deposited pile safe and sound!! What a massive relief!! I cant believe how lucky she is to have come out unscathed! Has anyone else experienced something like this?
