Ok this is a very simple question. Is tithing a sin? If the church facility has a particular bill to pay (not for their own gain) should those that attend not give in charity to help the facility? Please understand that I am looking for a scripture that says giving monetary gifts is an abomination. I also know that God does not need money (please do NOT patronize me in your empty attempts at debunking giving monetarily). I also made sure to emphasize NOT FOR THEIR OWN GAIN up above, so if you believe that I am supportive of the snakes that prey on those who are ignorant then you are mistaken again. I simply wish to know where in the Bible it says NOT to give monetarily. ***HISTORY LESSON*** In those times many traded things they had as payment for things. Many people were potters, farmers, carpenters etc. so money was not used THEN (common sense) since bartering was a more commonly used method of satisfying ones debts, that and labor. I am NOT saying tithing is a debt or mandatory but if one has the ability to assist the facility then why not? Where in scripture does it say not to? Is all things written not applicable to us today? Help me to understand. :-)
