Ok, this is something i needed to be done by me for me love it or hate it its the truth.... let me start by saying RIP to Mike Brown, and since i do not know the circumstances of his shooting i wont comment to any of that. What i want to say is about the riots that were a result of it and us as a black community. Riots had nothing to do with the boy being killed, it was a bunch of people using that tragic event to steal and use violence. We as a black community need to come together. Everyone cares when its white on black but no-one seems to care about the black on black violence polluting this country. Out neighborhood is called the hood because that is what we allow it to be. Im from Chicago and i know that if we were to come together as a people like all that other groups do(be they white, Mexican, or Jewish, etc) we would be one of the greatest economical centers of the city, but the few (gangs) mess it up for the many. I know this is not the dream Martin Luther king Jr spent his life in pursuit of and died for. Im a young man myself but my generation and my kids generation are suffering because we do not learn from the past. Our government works for us NEEDS US, not the other way around this is a republic and not a democracy; if you do not know the difference please enlighten yourself. I hate knowing that we cant do anything together as a people. We need to get involved in our communities, we are have so many communities in which there is an liquor store on almost every corner. Im not a politician not would i ever want to be but i wish people would pay attention to their communities and Im sure if i walk up to some of these people in the hoodand asked them will their alderman was they couldnt tell me but yet Im sure they could sprout out every lyric to the new jeezy or drake song. Im just concerned about the state that our communities are in. People here out country, in my city take the freedoms we have lightly. Claiming chiraq for the violence and terrorist reasons is beyond ridiculous. Sheldon Brown and the dovetail project is a great place to start if you are a young black man in Chicago looking to start over i encourage you to get in touch with him. We need to come together and vote for not whats best for you but whats best for your children because doing whats best for you should be an after thought and doing whats best for your children is the only way the future will have any hope if you cant fly then run, if you cant run then walk, if cant walk then crawl, whatever you do keep moving forward Martin Luther King Jr. We as a people need to move forward even if its just a few baby steps at a time. End rant.
