Ok, time for a rant. Background - Suffolk Police conducted a motorcycle safety checkpoint on the LIE for approx two hours yesterday. They checked 134 bikes and issued tickets to 57 of them. Rant - WTF is the matter with you people? Youre making everyone who rides look bad by drawing negative attention to the motorcycling community. Based on this checkpoint, 42.5% of bikes had something illegal. 17 uninspected bikes. Would you do that in your car? No! Get it inspected, unless it wouldnt pass because of your stylish modifications.13 for loud pipes (85db limit). Your loud pipes dont save lives, all you think they say is Look at me! aint I cool?, but no, it just says youre an obnoxious asshole. And yes I have an aftermarket exhaust but its a performance mod that is within legal limits. 6 for non DOT approved helmets. Half helmets always. I guess you showed them and their helmet laws! These people obviously have no idea what happens in a get off with most of their head and their faces exposed to the road. After your medical insurance runs out we can all pay via Medicaid for your stay in a facility where you sit and drool all day like a vegetable IF you survive. Half helmets for half wits. The rest were for unregistered bikes, lane splitting, and disobeying the checkpoint signs. One idiot even tried ditching his bike and walking past. Ill feel real comfortable whenever I pass a cop (even at legal speeds) knowing that hes thinking that he has a 42% chance of getting me on something if he pulls me over.
