Ok, today was a really long day.....but a very good day. I got a call last night around 7 pm to let me know that I had to take my son allllll the way back up to Mexia by 9:45 this morning for a meeting. The meeting was for his HRD (high risk determination evaluation) results. This is important in determining if my son can leave the Mexia SSLC. IF he was determined as high risk (meaning high risk to cause bodily injury to someone other than himself) then he would have to stay at Mexia, since it is basically the only high risk facility for minors (hes 16). The meeting started off on a slightly sour note in that he has had 2 basket hold type restraints in February and 1 this month so far. BUT, even with those.....it was determined that he is NOT high risk.....and thus we can start the process of having him MOVED OUT OF THAT FACILITY!!!! Woooohoooo. This means to either the Brenham SSLC or to a group home. The meeting to determine the best fit (according to the group up in Mexia) should happen within the next 14 days. So, while its not a fast process.....at least his days at Mexia are now numbered. I WANT HIM OUT OF THERE. Moreso since an incident that has happened in January....plus other factors. So.....the search begins for the right solution for all of us.
