‘Okada’ Rider Jailed 28 Months For Fraud By Aminaash Natta Brima Magistrate Siray Wurie of the Pademba Road Court No 2, on Wednesday 29th October 2014, sentenced Francis Bangura, a commercial motorbike rider to 28 months imprisonment for fraudulently converting to his own benefit two TVS Star Sport motorcycles valued at Le7, 800, 000 entrusted into his care by Kadiatu Mansaray (complainant) for commercial purposes. The accused was arraigned on one count of fraudulent conversion contrary to section 20 (1) (iv) (b) of the Larceny Act of 1916. The particulars of offense alleged that the accused on 2nd September this year at Marjay Town, Goderich Village, fraudulently converted the aforementioned property to his own benefit and use by reneging on the agreement and sold the property without accounting for the funds. Handing down the sentence, Magistrate Wurie said after thoroughly going through the testimonies of the prosecution witnesses, statement of the accused and the particulars of offense, found the accused guilty. He added that the activities of the convict are unbearable and that he is sentencing him to 28 months imprisonment to serve as a deterrent. The matter was prosecuted by Woman Sergeant 5115 Margaret Kpundeh while the accused was unrepresented.
