Okana teaches us: the world began with one. If throughout the duration of this campaign just one of us finds inner peace and solace, we have begun a world and brought peace to the existing one. Peace and healing, no matter how idealized these concepts may be, must be promoted from within; from the most inner realms of our soul. Clearly, the color we choose to dress in matters little if the individual and the soul do not seek to distance themselves from the antithetical forces that reside within us and combat peace. Those who can accomplish this by reflecting on their own inquietude, and attempt to come to terms with what troubles them, will benefit from this week of white attire and prayer because they may begin the healing process that will lead to an encounter with their own inner peace. Thereafter, we are at liberty to determine how to best use our newfound serenity to touch others. Yes, there are uncountable troubles in the world, and it would be foolish to believe that by dressing in white and praying to the divine for ten days we will solve the worlds afflictions. This initiatives objective is to first find that personal peace, and then to extend it to our Orisha brethren so that we may unite as a community, and use that newfound unity to project and defend causes against which we as a religious people also need to have our voices heard. If we can accomplish this difficult and elusive goal in ten days or if it takes us ten thousand days to reach it, we can proclaim that the world began with one and that ONE is EACH and EVERY ONE of us who embarked on the journey.
