Okay - so this is probably so not politicaly correct - BUT - I have never been known for being very PC - AND - I love Chris Rock - AND - this is nothing but the truth - AND its hilarious, Im sorry, it made me roar!! I was a flaming hippy in a military town in the late 60s and 70s - the cops hated us , the military hated us and they both were allowed free rein in dealing with us - cause we might have blown up the Navy Base or the Staff College or something. We had the doors of our apartments crashed open with battering rams, we got stopped daily on the street, driving, while eating out, everywhere! You learn real quick to be polite, cooperate and not carry anything you cant swallow inconspicuously! And yes, I saw friends get arrested and I saw a few get pretty roughed up by the cops - but they were the ones who were smart asses to the police - who tried to run - who called them pigs, etc. Its very simple - YES, the police are there to protect us BUT they are also there to take our asses to jail if we f up, so if it looks like we are fing up OR if we are hanging with people who are fing up, they have every right to stop you. You dont run, you keep your hands visible, you say yes sir and no maam and if you get caught doing something you shouldnt be doing or if you have a warrant(s) out on you - then you get mad at yourself, you get down on yourself, not the police - they are doing their job. AND if they are not doing their job and they are beating people up and arresting them without cause? then you get pictures, evidence, statements, proof - you organize, you find a pro bono publica lawyer(s) and you bring charges against them - you sue them - you go after them where it hurts them and make them change and you do it legally.
