Okay Dalhart people.......today Jill Metcalf started an after school program called HOMEWORK AND HOBBIES at the Dalhart Intermediate School for our 4th and 5th graders. She has worked very hard to set this program up through our community connect center. Today was the first day of the program and it will be every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:15 to 5 pm. From 3:30 until 4:15 the students will be working on homework, organizational skills, reading, etc..... from 4:15 until 5:00 the students will be doing some type of activity, craft or hobby. They will provide a snack for your child from 3:15 to 3:30. Okay......this is where I need you to step in. As I have lived in Dalhart for many years now Im always hearing complaints how Dalhart does not provide anything for the youth in this town. I believe that people have come up with amazing ideas or options for the youth in Dalhart but as I saw today there was not enough volunteers to help follow through with the ideas or programs that people are interesting in for their children. It is always the same handful of people. We need to come together as a community and help these children to succeed. This is an amazing program that Jill has put together and we are needing help! We need volunteers, we need donations we need your time or anything that you can afford to give would be greatly appreciated. You do not have to volunteer every Tuesday and Thursday you can only do Tuesdays or Thursdays or just volunteer once a month. If you have a hobby or a craft that youd be interested in sharing with the children it would be gratefully appreciated. Cant wait to see who is ready to help out!
