Okay I am doing it finally! Thank you Kripesh Shiwakoti, Samriddhi Dhakal, Kre Eti and Prof. Andrew Pettit Morriss for nominating for the book challenge. Here are my favorite books which have influenced me in some way. 1. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People: Powerful Lessons in Personal Change - Stephen R. Covey (Loved the lesson: We, humans always have a choice on how to react to something and that makes all the difference. The lesson has helped me so much in life. Helped me become more impervious to what other people think or say about me.) 2. Common Sense Economics: What Everyone Should Know About Wealth and Prosperity - James D. Gwartney (The book that changed my perception towards economics and inspired me to follow the path of economics, entrepreneurship and public policy. Before this book, economics was incredibly boring subject in my eyes.) 3. In Defense of Global Capitalism - Johan Norberg ( Took me from slightly left of center to very far in the right of center in the spectrum of political ideologies. Took me weeks to finish the book as I tried to cross check the facts and dwell upon his arguments but it was worth it.) 4. The Snowball: Warren Buffett and the Business of Life - Alice Shroeder (Inspiring book about an inspiring person whose teachings I try to follow while dealing with my income, finances and investment.) 5. Good to Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap... and Others Dont - Jim Collins (I find myself referring to this book time and again during my work and while making decisions within the organization.) 6. Free to Choose, Capitalism and Freedom - Milton Friedman (Combined with #2 and #3, these books convinced me in the virtues of a free society and free economy and inspired me to become a champion of liberty.) 7. Sophies World - Jostein Gaarder (Crash course on philosophy in such an interesting way.Want to read this once again someday.) 8. Here Come Everybody and Cognitive Surplus - Clay Shirky (Helped me understand and brace myself for the globally connected age where internet is fundamentally changing the way we lead our lives.) 9. Wild Swans: Three Daughters of China - Jung Chang, Nothing to Envy: Ordinary Lives in North Korea (Made me immune and hostile to any collectivist, utopian ideology especially communism.) 10. Pillars of the Earth, World Without End, Eye of the Needle, A Dangerous Fortune, Lie Down With Lions - Ken Follett (Ken Follett is my most favorite novelist. Dont want to miss any novel he has ever written and will write in future.) Bonus: Gone With the Wind, A Fine Balance, Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (Amazing novels.) I nominate Akash Shrestha, Sarita Sapkota, Prasant Thapa, Nirmal Gyanwali, Ashutosh Tiwari , Arpita Nepal, Rup Sunar, Bibek Paudel, Jainendra Jeevan Sharma to share about your favorite books and help hundreds of people prepare their reading lists. ;)
