Okay, I confess: I burned Christmas dinner. Just as the meal was finishing cooking we had unexpected (but very welcome) guests and I forgot all about what was in the oven until one of my sons said, Do you smell something burning? A horrified instant of realization later, I was in the kitchen frantically trying to rescue charred green beans, way too crispy rolls, a carrot soufflé that could have passed for a brick and a ham that had left well done behind forty-five minutes previously. After trying to pass the ham off to my sons as blackened pork (like they were going to fall for that) I gave up and we ended up grilling out. And a good time was had by all. So how was your Christmas?
