Okay I dont usually get a bee in my bonnet about things but Ive - TopicsExpress

Okay I dont usually get a bee in my bonnet about things but Ive decided too on this. Im fed up of parents being dictated to on the way we should bring up our children. Ive sent this email to the schools my children attend and to the education department as well as my local mp. Its time as parents we used our voice and made ourselves heard. As a parent of a child at your school who is doing very well and only has absences due to illness I would like to ask a question? Who decides what constitutes a unauthorised absence? I ask this because to be honest it should work both ways! I do not authorise absences from school on inset days when child care has to be arranged or failing that a day off work with loss of pay has to be taken. I do not authorise my child to be absent from school on strike days (this Thursday being one) again child care has to be arranged or again an unpaid day off work! Surely it should not be a case of say as I do not as I say? Therefore I am reversing the situation. If my child is forced to take a day of from school due to the reasons listed above (which I dont think constitutes exceptional circumstances) I will be implementing a fine of £60 per teacher my child should have on the day of unauthorised absence. Parents are continually penalised and dictated to about the way they raise their children. If we have a duty of care to our child in making sure they attend school to receive the best possible education they can, then the teaching bodies and department for education should have the same standards and practice what they preach. You can pass this letter on to the department for education if you so wish. I have passed it over to my local member of parliament.
