Okay..... I found the autographs to back up my story from 1972 California 500. I was 11 year old autograph hound. Around lunch time was a good time to head into the Victory Circle restaurant (which was the lowest glass wall on the main grandstand at OMS) I went in there and saw Joe Leonard and he was sitting at a table with a bunch of crew members. I asked him if I could get his autograph and he obliged. Joe said I should get all these guys autographs. They are the ones that make me look good and they passed the book around the table and signed it. Then he said something to the effect of You should really get this guys autograph and he pointed to a man sitting with them... everybody started chuckling. I asked why and who is he? Why this is Maurice Phillipe! He is the designer of The Parnelli. Then somebody asked if they had a photo in my program of the Parnelli..... I found it and both Joe and Maurice signed the photo of the Parnelli in the program. Below is what I walked away with that day. I went and showed my dad and told him who Maurice Phillipe was and how I met him...... Thanks for the memories guys!
