Okay. The weekend is gone. Lost another hour of sleep. And as predicted, experienced 3 Days of fun, nerves, tears, cheers, and Proud Parents @Platinum National Dance Competition UNF Fine Arts Center. The dancers gave us all something to cheer about with their superb performances. The varied competition from studios around the southeast made the event an exhilarating and sometimes frenzied affair. Still have a ringing in my right ear. Where does the pitch of that squeal come from? And the decibels! It was like a bunch of fog horns on helium! Cant say enough how much fun I had seeing the Marta-Jackson School-Of Dance students competing again. Memories of my daughters dance education at Martas made me tear just a bit. (or it could have been the pain from the squealing) I allowed myself an observation during the weekend when it occurred to me that several of the Teachers, Studio Directors, and Dancers from around the area; Got Their Start, Learned the Fundamentals, and otherwise Honed Their Skills, from Marta Jackson. While it may not be nice in this forum or my place at all - I am gonna take the shot and brag on Marta-Jackson School-Of Dance. Recognition is deserved. And one final note. This was only the second competition of the season, and the first time competing for some of the dancers. I see the dedication from the dancers and their Parents, and the hard work put in by both. I hope we all realize that the competition logistics dont just happen; things have to get done, and they do. And for that I would like to give a special Shout Out to Joann Clark for making things happen. I would like to tell you that this woman is tireless, but I cant. At one point, late in the evening she said, Ive got to go back to my room, Im tired. I would not have believed it - but she said it. THANK YOU JOANN !!!
