Okay ... This is where my blood begins to boil... For a year... citizen action groups in North Carolina have filed lawsuits against Duke Energy regarding environmental concerns related to coal ash contamination... and each and every time.. the State, under the clean water act, stepped in within the last week before the suit would go forward, and took over as plaintiff... 3 Times. In the end, the State fined the multi-billion dollar company a total of less than $100K, and did not require the company to take any reparative actions to resolve any of the environmental issues identified in the citizen groups cases....oh by the way, the newly elected Governor of NC, a republican and new to the political world, worked for Duke Energy for over 25 years.
