Okay, all my dear praying friends and family, heres the latest in my continuing health saga: On Monday, March 3rd I met with Dr. Chou, at UT Southwestern Cancer Center and we reviewed the CT scan results from 3 weeks ago. He assures me that the density of the tumor is inconsistent with phlegm resulting from the walking pneumonia I have had. However, the great news is that he is unable to ascertain the solidity of the tumor or to confirm any indication that “if” it is cancer, there has been any spreading to the bones, lymph nodes or other surrounding organs. His stance is that he has never had an opportunity to view and study a tumor in such early stages of formation and that it was a miracle that it was detected so early. Soooo, he has scheduled a battery of additional testing to determine exactly what we are dealing with prior to ordering a biopsy. I have already done blood work and an lung function test and have a test Friday morning (fasting) to get a PET scan done, which is more in-depth than the CT scan done previously. He put me on Symbicort, a inhalation aerosol (which contains steroids) and a nasal spray. He advised me that some of the results of these test would not be accurate if I continued smoking and ordered me to stop immediately, but said that I could use a vapor cig to wean myself off nicotine. Ive only had 2 cigs in the last 3 days and am using the vapor cig sparingly, but having serious nicotine withdrawal issues – excruciating headaches, balance and coordination problems (dropping things and stumbling/balance problems), upset stomach and diarrhea and just general weakness and lack of energy from not sleeping well. Plus my blood sugar levels are high from the meds, steroids, stress and withdrawal issues. I love you all and appreciate your care and concern and especially your prayers for me and Bonny in this difficult situation. Thank you all for the emails and FB posts, they mean so much. I treasure your calls, but pray that you understand if I am not able to answer or return them all. Please continue to lift us both up as we traverse this unknown path and cling to our faith that God is the Great Healer. I love it that the doctor who specializes in these issues is stumped and unable to give an accurate diagnosis, which is a confirmation of faith that God is already fixing the problem and will continue the work that He has started in me.
