Okay, continuing on this theme of service... (Im not really sure why Ive found this rock in my shoe but Ive learned that when the Holy Spirit says move, Id better move.) Its completely understandable but it still amazes me how the Lord can sync up all of our teachings and experiences at times to galvanized a point or to make clear what were to learn in a particular season of life. What were studying in our Small Group (our Spiritual Gifts, our purpose, etc.), what our Pastor is teaching on Sundays (see gorelevant) and the focus of Lisas Bible Study this week (as well as many of my daily devotions lately) it could not be more clear to me that its time to ensure that we de-clutter our lives, prioritize the things which impact the Kingdom and avail ourselves fully to be used by God for the purpose in which Hes made us. So, with this foundation underfoot, it was no surprise that I was presented with Matthew 23:11-12 this morning. What is our motive for serving in our local church? Are we seeking praise and recognition or are we seeking to make an impact on the Kingdom. Do we want to receive our rewards here on this earth (where all things will one day be reduced to rubble) or are we storing our crowns in Heaven? Are we more interested in what others say about us or what God sees inside of us? If youre a fellow Christ Follower, literally look into a mirror this week and ask yourself these questions. (You may be amazed at just how real it gets in that moment!)
