Okay everyone, I have not been on FB in days! Please repost all the good stuff for me! On another topic....our elderly! My Mom turned 80 this year. She cannot afford to quit working. So she has a job taking care of old people. I worry about her. She is showing signs of her age. You know the occasional forgetfulness, her labored gait, and when I hug her I am afraid to hug too tight! She is just so frail. (Dont tell her I said that) I asked her to come down here to live. My daughter and I live within a half hour of each other. She could stay with my daughter and she could stay with me. A room in both houses. I understand the Matriarchal status. And by moving here she would give up her home, and some of her independence, but she would gain...no bills (other than Medical, which she she does have Medicare) and any bills she accrued before coming down here. After that we would pretty much pay for everything but her basic needs. She could then save her money so that she could go visit my brothers and sisters (and hopefully make them want to contribute to her care while availing themselves of her Wisdom). My point in going into all of this about my very independent Mother, who will give me more tan an earful when she hears about this is... We need to bring our parents home to our families as soon as WE can! They never want to be a burden to us. But the wisdom history and love we lose by parking them in nursing homes is crazy. Not to mention the cost of them. We park Em in nursing home that have pretty names but I have been in many of them. They smell like they do not have enough staff to see to the most basic of needs. I will not go into the visuals of my visits. I just know my grandmother died in one. I visited her there twice. I lived in another state so I had an excuse...sort of. That Lady had so much history, love, charity, femininity, and just common sense, I just couldnt resign myself to seeing her there. It was not in my control to have any say in her care. It is not at this moment in my control to have any say in my Moms care. I love my Mom! I want her to realize that now at 80 yrs old she needs to let us take care of her. So she can enjoy her family. I do not want to clip her wings...I want to give her pin ions!
