Okay everyone, the number of gatherings we’re seeing is awesome, - TopicsExpress

Okay everyone, the number of gatherings we’re seeing is awesome, but as some of you have noticed, it’s kind of watering down the use of the phrase “Chive Unofficial Meetup”. On the other hand, any time Chivers want to get together, we’re all for it! So, to keep the actual meetups special, and to still let get the word out for smaller get togethers, we’re going to start following these general rules for promoting on this page. If you’re putting together an all-out charity event and looking to get 300+ people to come, that will still be a “Chive (Unofficial) Meetup” as far as this page goes. For us to promote it that way, we just need to know that you have the venue on board (not just expecting you, but working with you on making sure the event is awesome!), a charity cause has to be identified, and an event page set up for people to RSVP and get info on the event. A real meetup is a lot of work, and we want Jersey’s to be among the best in the Chive Nation! Next, we’re introducing the “(Unofficial) Chive Hangout”. This is far more casual, and easier to do. If you want to get fun crowd together to get up to shenanigans, this is the right category for you. We still recommend an event page, but it’s not required and a charity element is always welcome! When you send us graphics for these, please don’t use the “Chive (Unofficial) Meetup” tagline, we want people to know what’s planned, and this kind of event isn’t on the same level as the big ones. Last, we’re going to try Flash-Meets. The idea is simple, no planning, no net, just tell people where you’d like to get a group together for drinks. Send us a message about when and where you want to do something, and we’ll post them once a week (probably on Thursdays). In the post, we’ll add comments for each flash-meet and ask people to “like” the ones they think they’ll go to, which should give you an idea if anyone is around that might be there. Now, does this mean that we’re telling you what you can or can’t call your event? Not at all, we’re not theCHIVE, and we aren’t trying to be. This is all just about how we promote events, and get the right message out to all of our Chivers and Chivettes so they know what to expect at any given event. If you want to put your own event together, don’t hesitate to drop us a note! We’re here to spread the word about your event, and our new charity team is ready to help you make any fundraising events for Chive Charities or other organizations a big success! We work hard to try to make this page a great hub for all the Chivers and Chivettes in the New Jersey area, and hopefully this will make getting together with others that much easier to do! Thanks and KCCO! --CD
