Okay folks, once again the reality is completely lost on the media, which doesnt know squat about crude oil, crude oil refining, and crude oil products. Keystone XL would bring down to Nederland, TX to a very major crude oil pipeline hub terminal approximately 100,000 BPD of light sweet Bakken crude oil as well as 700,000 BPD of heavy sour Canadian crude oil blend. Much of that would be used nearby at the brand new expansion of Motiva, Port Arthur which is owned 50/50 by Shell/Saudi interests and with this expansion being for heavy sour crude at 325,000 BPD. It could also go to Citgo, Lake Charles, Total, Groves, and a few other local refineries within 50 miles. The crude oil feed which it would replace is that imported from Venezuela or Mexicos Mayan Blend. This type of crude oil is great for making petroleum coke which was somewhat of a nuisance byproduct around 1980 from squeezing the very last of gasoline from the heaviest fractions of crude oil, the very bottom of the barrel. Petroleum coke is used for making battery anodes, especially for smelting of alumina into aluminum metal, as well as extensively to increase BTU value of very poor quality clean coal for producing electricity. As for rail transport, BNSF doest go up to Hardesty in Canada, but Canadian National does. BNSF does haul much of the Bakken crude and will continue to after Keystone XL is built. usatoday/…/keystone-xl-oil-pipelin…/19198737/
